INCUBATION WAS BETWEEN FEB. 27 & MAR. 06. THE HATCH WAS BETWEEN APR. 2 AND APR. 8. OLDEST EAGLET IS ABOUT 72 DAYS OLD, YOUNGEST ABOUT 70 DAYS OLD
|
THE EAGLETS NOW ARE AT FULL SIZE, MALES AVG. 7-10 LBS, FEMALES 8-15 LBS WINGSPANS APPROACHING 6' IN MALES, UP TO 8' IN FEMALES. THE HOPPING AND wingercizing YOU'LL SEE, IS TO BUILD STRENGTH IN THEIR WINGS, LEGS AND TALONS. SOON WE'LL SEE BRANCHING AS HOVERING HAS STARTED ! THIS GIVES THEM THE FEELING FOR FLYING/LANDING. THEY MUST BE AT LEAST 70 DAYS OLD, BEFORE THEY CAN FLEDGE. YOU'LL SEE THE EAGLET HANG ON TO A PIECE OF THE NEST, THAT'S HIS ANCHOR, KEEPS THEM ON THE NEST. |
